Next to Conley's store on Lot 20
Mutchmor Street was the Livery Stable. Above the Livery Stable
was the Doctor Berry's Office. Dr. Berry left Providence Bay in
the early 1920's. The Livery Stable was taken over by Marshall
Pattison and was eventually demolished. It was on the corner
property of Mutchmor and Mira Street where a residence is today.
Right next door to that on the same property was the Merchant's
Bank which burned down in 1935. The bank no longer carried on
operation here as they had sold their interest to Bank of
Montreal which opened a branch in Mindemoya. Banking service was
only provided to Providence Bay 3 days a week then it went down
to 2 days a week and from there to 1 day a week at which time
banking ceased in Providence Bay.
