The building was built in 1948 by W.J. Sloss and operated as a farm machinery repair shop and dealership.
It was at some point taken over by W.J. Sloss' sons Elwood and Willis Sloss.
Upon the death of Willis in 1988 Elwood ran the business alone for a time.
Eventually it was purchased and operated as "The Spring Bay Coffee Shop".
