Entertainment at the Fair has changed over the past century. One well remembered past event was a contest for the ladies to harness a team of horses, hitch them to a wagon and drive them around the track in record time. In 1985 began "Farm Olympics" which once again gets the fair people involved in a competition of this kind.
The first midway at the fair was in 1966, and was also the first regular midway to come to Manitoulin. The midway has been an important aspect of the fair ever since. "Miss Dominion of Canada" attended our annual event in 1967 and since then a Saturday parade has been in the Fair's schedule of events.
The first "name" entertainment for our Saturday show and dance was Earl Heywood in 1968. Since that time many renowned Country & Western entertainers such as Donna Ramsay, Myrna Lauri, Rodger Quik, Family Brown, The Mercy Brothers, Ralph Carlson, Terri Carrise, Orval Prohet, Terry Sumsion, Ronnie Prophet, Marie Bottrell, Kitty Wells and Rick Tippe have graced the stage at the Providence Bay Fair.
