Pacific Hotel

aka
McDougall House, Commercial Hotel,
Providence Bay Lodge & Bayside Inn

The Pacific Hotel was the first hotel built in Providence Bay and was constructed and ran by William Pattison. The Pacific Hotel was directly across the road from McGillivray's Store.

The first town liquor license was issued to William Pattison.

William Pattison was the father of Elmer Pattison who was the custom officer and wharfinger at the Docking facility across the Bay.

The Pacific Hotel was purchased by Neil McDougall. Then sold to Mr. John R. Galbraith and then to Dunel McDougall; his son Donald McDougall took over from him and changed the name to Commercial Hotel.

Donald McDougall operated it from 1934 to 1940.

Out of a building behind the Commercial Hotel, Donald McDougall and Donald (Dick) Caddle operated a Livery Stable and a farm machinery sales and service establishment.

The building was purchased by Neil and Diane Chmielak in 1984 and operated as Bayside Inn.

In 1994 it was purchased by Duane and Beverly Cress.

In the late 1990's the building was condemned and then demolished in 2002.
