Providence Bay Harbour Centre

In years gone by this was the site of a sawmill and white pine pulp peeling operation.
The property was owned and operated by Leland McIntyre and Claude Bell. The pulpwood was dumped into the water inside of booms, just off the shore and towed by a tug out to the barges. The pulp was loaded by hand at first then machine onto the ships and hauled to there destinations, in most cases to Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Built in 1989/1990 the Harbour Centre represents the initial construction project for the Waterfront/Tourism Development Project. The interior of the building contains an area for the Interpretive Centre, retail space, restaurant area and restrooms.

Many people enjoy the long and beautiful sand beach in Providence Bay.

It is the perfect spot to enjoy numerous activities.

The Providence Bay & Spring Bay History Preservation Project graciously thanks the Carnarvon Township Council for donating the retail space area to the project for the 2005 summer season.
